If you’ve been wondering how to throw a boho baby shower, I’ve got tons of ideas for you!
One of the things I love most about a boho baby shower is that there are endless ways to decorate with a wide variety of “boho” colors and textures to choose from.
It’s also a great theme whether you’re having a baby girl, a baby boy or are keeping things a surprise.
What is boho style baby shower?
A boho theme baby shower takes inspiration from the bohemian hippies of the 60’s and 70’s and is styled with neutral or pale colors and a variety of earthy textures.
Boho colors range anywhere from dusty rose and gold to pale yellows, sage greens, muted oranges, beiges, and white. You can use just about any color though if it’s in the right hue.
Some popular boho decorations and textures include dried pampas grass, rainbows, fresh flowers, macrame, feathers, ceramics, glass, fans, wood, gauze, wicker, and beads.
I’m going to show you lots of examples of how you can put these items together to create a gorgeous boho theme baby shower.
We’ll start with invitations and explore everything from decorations to cake.

Boho Baby Shower Invitations
The first step to planning a boho baby shower is deciding how you will send invitations.
Do you want to go the “old-fashioned” way and mail paper invitations? If so, here are some cute boho ones. Personally, I like paper invitations because the mom-to-be can keep one in her baby book as a memento.
However, you can also send digital ones via text or e-mail (like these boho chic ones on Etsy).
Your invitations will set the tone for the event and get guests excited to shower their loved one.
Next, it’s onto decorating.
Boho Baby Shower Decorations
When decorating a boho baby shower there are two important spaces to feature:
- A sitting area for the mom-to-be
- The table scape (centerpieces, table fillers, place settings)
First, let’s take a look at where you might shower the guest of honor.
Boho Baby Shower Idea: Sitting Area
This gorgeous setting is the center stage for the mom-to-be to sit and open gifts. You can rent boho baby shower decorations like these from a party rental in your area or you can DIY using items in your home and some boho essentials.
For starters, use a blank wall instead of arched backdrops to design the space. Grab a balloon garland arch kit in your preferred colors (it’s easier than it looks, but an electric or manual balloon pump is helpful). Add a few faux flowers between the balloons. Next, decorate the wall with a gold Oh Baby sign or stack these BABY blocks next to the chair.
If you don’t have a wicker chair, try styling a chair you own with neutral or textured throw pillows. You can also skip the chair and have this just be a fun photo area.
Similarly, if your boho baby shower is an outdoor event, you can use the beauty of nature to help style your party.
This simplified look uses only a few boho baby shower decorations including this peacock chair with an accent pillow, a large glass vase with dried pampas grass, and a balloon garland with faux flowers.
Table Scape
The table is where you can really have some fun mixing boho themed decorations to wow your guests.
To create a well decorated table, you’ll need centerpieces, table fillers and place settings.
Boho Baby Shower Centerpieces
Your centerpieces are the focal point of your table scape. Most boho baby shower centerpieces include dried or fresh flowers.
The question is, what are you going to put them in?
Vases? Rattan baskets? Glass terrariums?
Let’s look at some ideas.
Vases
A simple boho baby shower centerpiece is a glass or ceramic vase with a mix of fresh and faux flowers or dried pampas grass.
It does not necessarily have to have a baby element to it unless you want it to. In which case, you could add boho baby booties (something like this) or a teddy bear next to it.
Terrariums

Another boho baby shower idea I love for table centerpieces is using “baby succulents”. Grab these glass terrariums and fill them with fresh flowers and faux succulents.
These lovely terrarium centerpieces also make great party favors for guests to take home at the end of the shower.
Table Filler
In addition to your centerpieces, you’ll want to add texture to the table to marry together the design elements. A great way to do this is to add a table runner under your boho baby shower centerpieces.
Try an inexpensive gauze table runner to add color. Or for more texture, use a macramé table runner (this one is gorgeous!).
If you’re decorating one long table versus multiple small tables, there are lots of ways to fill in the blank spaces between the centerpieces. Here are some ideas for boho table fillers:
- Candles (taper, tea light or floating)
- Wooden rainbows
- Small frames with ultrasound picture
- Mini wicker bassinets
- Beads
Place Settings
Next up on your table scape are the actual place settings. This can include some or all of the following: placemats, plates, silverware, cups, napkins, napkin rings and menus.
To me, the biggest boho statement piece of the place setting is the placemat. Decorating with woven placemats adds to the overall texture and design of the table.
If skipping the placemats, then I suggest using boho themed napkin rings like these for the same effect. You could even add a single flower into it for added detail.
In terms of cutlery, plain ol’ clear plastic silverware is no fun! Opt for a plastic set in rose gold or gold to match the rest of your boho color scheme.
When it comes to glassware, you can keep it simple. Using clear water glasses or wine glasses works great.
But if you want to add some vintage style into your boho baby shower design, there are plenty of reusable, plastic wine goblets like the ones in the photos above that will look amazing (these ones, for example). These are especially fun if a “mom-osa bar” is part of your party plan.
Lastly, you may wish to add a menu to your table decor on top of each plate. Personally, I really love this boho menu from Etsy that you can edit and print from home. A menu will make your guests feel like they’re at an upscale event!

Boho Baby Shower Cake
Moving onto dessert!
Whether you choose to have a boho baby shower cake made by a professional or DIY, I’ve got some great ideas to inspire you.
This cake is beautiful in its simplicity. To DIY, stack a few 6” round cakes, frost with buttercream and add an Oh Baby cake topper along with a faux flower topper.
This boho cake gets a little fancier with fondant, but the idea is still within grasp to DIY with a few extra cake accessories. Here, they’ve used a Schleich giraffe, fondant rainbow, “Baby” cake plaque (this one is similar and customizable with name) and a cake topper with pampas grass and mini balls.
This last cake is clearly made by a professional. It even includes the baby’s name! The fondant baby shoes are super cute paired with the flowers. But it’s the wood cake stand that I’m obsessed with that adds the finishing touches to this beautiful boho design.
Boho Theme Baby Shower: Final Thoughts
I hope you found some inspiration from these boho baby shower ideas to get your party planning started!
The best part is that just about anything can be styled as boho if you accent it with the right color hues, textures… or even just some pampas grass LOL.
There are no real rules to this theme! Have fun with it.
